Entry into a working loom house in a silk-weaving village depends on the family's permission, arranged through someone they already know. There is no ticket counter for this.
What people get wrong
Visitors try to fit Isan into a two-day add-on from Bangkok; the region is large and the sites, temples, silk towns, Mekong border towns, are hours apart by road, not a loop.
When, and why it matters
Phu Kradueng closes to visitors during the rainy season every year, and the Naga fireball nights on the Mekong fall on specific dates set by the lunar calendar. The trip has to fit the closure and the date, not the other way round.
