What you cannot just book
Entry into deeper cave systems like Krem Liat Prah or Mawsmai's far passages runs through registered caving clubs, not tour packages. Route knowledge and permission belong to people who've surveyed the caves themselves.
What people get wrong
First-timers plan the Nongriat root bridge as a half-day trip. The descent and climb back is several thousand steps and takes most of a day, with afternoon light failing before the ascent is done.
When, and why it matters
Caving season is roughly November to February, once monsoon water drains from the limestone. Root bridge treks in Jun to Sep mean flooded streams and stone steps slick enough that villages sometimes close specific crossings.
